| When Claudia Marie
sat down with her writer/producer to discuss her debut solo project,
he asked, "What is it you're wanting to say with this project?
What message do you want to convey?"
With a distant vision in her eyes,
determination in her voice, she expressed herself with wisdom and
faith beyond what you'd expect to hear from someone so young. "It
seems that church has become a routine - a rut almost, a sense of
duty, obligation or guilt for so many people. The message I feel
God wants me to deliver to the church is to stop going through the
motions. It's not about our religion, it's about our relationship
with Him."
Barely into this meeting, this petite
young lady started revealing a passion much larger than herself.
Having been told by peers that everything is too black and white
with her she continued, "There are too many gray areas in our
society. There are still absolutes - things that are right
and things that are wrong."
Sadly in America today, the only
thing deemed worse than evil itself is when someone dares to call
it for what it is. Boldly taking a stand is just what this singer
is about. Our society screams "tolerance" in an attempt
to legitimize every imaginable indulgence. Claudia Marie is saying,
"Everything is not okay. If everything in this world
were okay, there would be no need for the cross of Jesus!"
A meeting of minds had begun. Within
moments, they had outlined what she shares with anyone who will
listen. "But I want people to know just how much God loves
them and that no matter what they've done or where they've been,
they're never too far from His grace." With deep compassion
she shared how much she wanted people to know just how big God's
love is and how much He wants to have relationship with them.
And so it began. "Now what kind
of music should express this?" she was asked.
"Good music, cool
music, fun music." You can hear the musical influences
that inspired that statement; influences that make for a perfect
partnership of style and expression. The music is everything she
had hoped for and the lyrics poetic, solid and without compromise.
